Name:Jon Reid
Birthdate:Jan 26
Location:Sunnyvale, California, United States of America
My name is Jon Reid. I'm a JavaScript/HTML/CSS developer residing in Sunnyvale California, and I'm the author of O'Reilly's jQuery Mobile and Apress' The JavaScript Programmer's Guide. Currently I'm a Senior UX Engineer at Google working on the Google Web Designer project. On the side I teach classes in jQuery and jQuery Mobile and do a lot of writing.

My background includes both application engineering (I've worked on everything from business accounting software to document management to fusion simulation and genetic analysis software) and agency work (I've worked with some of the top interactive advertising agencies in the country, including EffectiveUI and CP+B). I'm familiar with most development methodologies, from Agile to the ever-popular OMG GET IT DONE BY COB OR WE'RE SCREWED. I know what it's like to be in the trenches building the web, and what it takes to get that job done.

All my career I've been fascinated with human-computer interaction, especially building user interfaces. Early on web technologies really spoke to me, and I have focused on them in my career. Because I've always been interested in the user, I'm particularly passionate about usability and accessibility, both of which are integral to the web though they are easy to leave behind.

I've chosen Dreamwidth as my platform because of Dreamwidth's Guiding Principles, Diversity Statement, and blogging tools. If you're looking for a place to start a blog, I recommend Dreamwidth.

You can follow me on Twitter, see me on LinkedIn or find me on Google+. I do not have a Facebook account, so if you think you're talking to me on Facebook you're not.
